Motor vehicle accidents happen every second of every day. If you would like to decrease your risks of being involved in a motor vehicle accident, you can take the following precautions:
Drive Slower
Speed is often a contributing factor to car accidents. When you slow down, you have more time to react if something should happen and more time to avoid a potential car accident.
Use Turn Signals
To help other drivers know what your intentions are, always use your turn signals. If you will be making a right or left hand turn, flip your signal on far in advance to allow the drivers behind you enough notice to slow down and avoid rear ending you.
Get a Back Up Camera
One way to avoid car accidents that are caused from the blind spot behind your vehicle is to have a back up camera installed. A small monitor over your rear view mirror or in your vehicle’s dashboard will allow you to see the area directly behind your bumper which is normally a blind spot.
Keep Your Focus on Driving
There are many things that can distract you while driving, from kids in the backseat to the radio to your cell phone – any time your eyes and mind are on anything other than driving you are putting yourself at an increased risk for a car accident. Stay focused and stay safe!
