Terrence James Cortelil was born in the Bronx New York, and raised in Rockland County. His father was a police officer with the NYPD and his mother was a nurse at Montefiore Hospital. His parent’s meeting in the South Bronx inspired the movie Fort Apache, The Bronx. Terrence has an older brother Joseph, an insurance agent, and an identical twin brother named Christian. Christian is a Police Officer and served as a US Marine in the Iraq War. Terrence has two children, Thomas and Emily, and they both attend Pearl River High School. Terrence graduated from Fordham University and Pace Law School. At law school, Terrence was ranked near the top of his class, graduating with honors, serving on the Environmental Law review and participated in the Dean’s Scholar Program, which was a tutoring service for first year students. After law school, Terrence was selected for a prestigious two year clerkship at the New York Court of Appeals, which is New York’s highest Court.
From there, Terrence joined one of the country’s biggest law firms as an associate, representing such institutions as the City of New York, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the County of Westchester. Ultimately, Terrence found his real passion helping those who were injured in accidents.
Along with Howie Stolzenberg, a legend in the field, they started StolzenbergCortelli,LLP, which specializes in helping those catastrophically injured. Terrence’s practice includes representing those injured in car accidents, construction accidents, slip, trip and falls and product liability actions. He drafts all of the firm’s legal and appellate briefs. When not working, he enjoys playing ice hockey, or watching his kid’s sporting events.
